American Wood Protection Association (AWPA) is
a non-profit organization which is responsible for promulgating
voluntary wood preservation standards. AWPA
Standards are developed by its technical committees in
an ANSI accredited consensus-based process
that involves individuals from all facets of wood preservation:
Producers of preservatives and preservative components;
producers of treated and untreated wood products; end
users of treated wood; engineers, architects and building
code officials; government entities, academia, and other
groups with a general interest in wood preservation. AWPA's
Standards are universally specified for wood preservation
in the USA, and are recognized worldwide. |

sponsored by the Southern Forest Products Association (SFPA).

Southern Pine Inspection Bureau's (SPIB) Quality
Audit Program for producers, specifiers, and users of
preservative-treated products is aimed at helping assure
quality treatment is maintained in this important market
segment for southern pine.
The program's procedures are designed to provide an
economically sound and standardized method of treatment,
testing, marking and certification of SPIB Quality Marked
(Quality Mark) products...in conformance with the American
Wood Preserver's Association (AWPA) standards, and major
model building code's requirements.
The SPIB
Treated Wood Division's inspection service
and Quality Assurance Laboratory are accredited by the
American Lumber Standard Committee, (ALSC).

Michigan Lumber and Building Materials Association
was established in 1889. Today, it is one of the premier
and most versatile lumber and building materials associations
in the nation.
MLBMA represents and serves over 450
business location/members today. Virtually, all businesses
involved in the manufacture, distribution, and retailing
of building materials and home improvement products are
eligible for membership. |
